I bought this from the estate of a 93 year old woman who had an extensive collection of antique Chinese and Japanese artifacts including pottery, tansu, and carved stone. This is an unusual piece. It is carved
from one piece with the inside container with lid. It smells like it held ink but I am not sure. The outer
carved stone is highly carved with design of dragon and foo lion. It is in excellent condition. There
is a tiny chip in the outer stone on an edge. I believe it is a 'Scholar's ink well' of some kind.
Archaic Seal on the bottom.
